Teaching the programme

Resilient Families has courses for parents and children. These complement each other, so the learning a child does in school can be supported by sharing the parent course.

The courses are designed to be:

Adaptable

Working in whichever setting you need, from classrooms to front rooms, remote learning platforms or video conference calls.

Easy to deliver

The courses can be self-guided by parents and older children. Share the video links and activities and the videos will guide them through.

Interactive

Use pause points throughout the courses to complete activities or spark discussions. These are outlined in your user guide.

Complimentary

The courses support a 360° resilience approach for your school or setting. The parent course supports the learning in the child and youth courses.

What does the programme include for primary and secondary ages?

There are two lessons/courses – suitable for children aged 7-10 and children aged 11+.

The primary lesson is called “How to get digital superpowers” and is a fun, fast-paced and interactive course/lesson, discussing how to spot online risks – including disinformation. This lesson is suitable for younger children or those with more limited digital experience and literacy.

The secondary lesson is called “The power of resilience” and features a focus on disinformation, extremism and radicalisation. This is a more challenging course, for children with greater digital skills and awareness.

What do I get to go with the video lessons?

The lessons are supported by lesson plans - guiding you through how to deliver the programme – as well as worksheets.

How would I deliver the lessons?

The classroom lessons can be used face-to-face with groups of children – supported by a lesson plan. A remote version is designed for online learning platforms – with timed pauses to complete short activities. Please note: some children may find it harder to complete this self-guided course. The course is also available in four parts.

What do I get for parents?

A video course exploring how parents can help their children navigate the digital world – including the opportunities and things that can (and will) go wrong.

It covers what digital resilience means, how to develop better communication, understanding their child's online world, how to help their child respond to online risks, and what to do if something goes wrong.

How would I deliver Resilient Families to parents?

The course can be delivered face-to-face – with interactive talking points to help you facilitate discussion.

The course can also be shared in one or four parts – to be watched by parents in their own time.
